Position OverviewUltimate Staffing Services is actively seeking an HR Generalist to join their client's team in Pomona, California. This role involves performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, with a focus on ensuring compliance and supporting the overall human resource strategy. Responsibilities- Administer and execute HR programs, including retirement, compensation, benefits, leaves, talent management, and training.
- Manage talent through onboarding, performance management, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Assist with performance management by answering questions, running reports, and filing.
- Process workers' compensation claims, retirement withdrawals, and submissions for the benefits department.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to appropriate personnel.
- Assist in recruiting by posting jobs, launching search committees, and onboarding new employees.
- Coordinate new faculty and staff transitions with supervisors and managers.
- Verify compliance with payroll data entry and personnel files.
- Coordinate quarterly retirement committee meetings and manage the annual retirement plan audit.
- Respond to questions and complaints from faculty and staff, serving as a witness or note-taker in investigative meetings.
- Process adjunct and faculty contracts during the hiring season.
- Assist with open enrollment for benefits and respond to employee benefit questions.
- Backup student employment coordinator during peak hiring periods.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Coordinate leaves of absence, including CFRA, FMLA, PDL, and workers' compensation.
Qualifications- 3+ years of experience in human resources required.
- 3+ years of experience managing leaves of absences and workers' compensation in California.
- 3+ years of experience with HRIS systems in recruitment, performance management, and benefits.
- 3+ years of experience conducting presentations and training preferred.
- 3+ years of human resources experience working in higher education preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or Law with an emphasis on human resources or social work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong interpersonal communication and situational de-escalation skills.
