AbbVie Discovery Neuroscienceteamseeksacollaborativesenior scientistwho willlead fromthe laboratory benchto support advancement of psychiatry assets.In this onsite role,youwillleverageyoursignificant demonstrated experience inmolecular and cellular pharmacology,in vitrohuman-derivedcellular models, and ex vivo sample analysistopropose/evaluatenew approachesandcarry outwell-matched approachesfor scientific questionssupporting advancement of assets through stage-gate transitions. You will be expected tohavestrong communicationskills,be agile,operatecomfortably with ambiguity on formal and informal teams, and workwith a sense of urgency and accountability to advance projects efficientlyand compliantly.Opportunities will exist tocontribute to target validationand progression,collaborate across AbbVie sites,presentyour work,and mentor scientists.Wereexcited to see how you canhelpAbbViedeveloplife-changing psychiatric therapeutics for patients. Responsibilities - Proactively translatedepartment/projectteam scientific questions into well-designed experiments,utilizinginternal and external resources
- Exploremultipletechnicaloptions forapproach,quality, feasibility,efficiencyand present recommendations atprojectteam or group meetings
- Set upand carry outnovelmolecular and cellular assays/modelstosupport SAR and understanding of target biology in context of project team goals & transitions
- Document protocols and results in databases and electronic laboratory notebook, contributing to formal study reports per business need
- Upholdimpeccableresearch-related&corporate compliancestandards
- Collaborateacross the organization;Mentor/matrix managejunior scientists
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and typically 12+ years of experience, Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically 10+ years of experience, PhD and typically 4+ years of experience.
- Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline.
- Effective writer and communicator of research or other regulatory materials.
Desired Qualifications: - Significant experiencewithrunning and interpretingpharmacological studies,humaniPSC-neuronculture,clonal cell lineculture, equipment/assayselectionand development
- Growth mindset with strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn and master new experimental techniques
- Attention to detail with ability to see big picture,multitask and work within timelines
- Pharmaceutical industrydrug discoveryexperience
- Experiencewith endpoints related toneurotransmitters, receptor signaling, trafficking, neuroplasticity, proteomics.
- Experience withmedium to high throughput technology and techniques such as electronic dispensing equipment/robotics,AlphaLISA, HTRF, ELISA, MSD, qPCR, capillary Western, FLIPR,kinetic/endpoint assays, high-contentimaging; engages vendors/reads manuals
- Ex vivo sampleassay design,processing,andanalysis experience
- Additional CNS iPSC-derived cell experience,encompassing multiple cell types
- Psychiatry therapeutic area experience
- FamiliarityleveragingAI tools to improve productivity
