Provide the analysis, development, and design ofelectrical projects for campus buildings. Assist in the project scoping toassess the needs of projects. Provide support to other units. This includes all necessary engineering analysis,design and layout of electrical, lighting, and fire alarm systems. </p><p>Provide detailed engineering analysis of electrical andlighting systems. </p><p>Provide detailed review of projects designed by outsideprofessional services consultants (PSC’s) and in-house designers.&nbsp; Preparewritten review comments for items not compliant with code or UniversityFacilities Standards and for items not compatible, coordinated or acceptablefor the proposed use. </p><p>Participate in formal or informal discussions related toreview comments.</p><p>Provide technical review &amp; opinion on variance approvalrequest forms submitted on projects. </p><p>Provide assessments of existing buildings and grounds forcondition, function, and compatibility with the Campus Master Plan.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Provide assessment of existing electrical, lighting, andfire alarm systems of campus buildings for operations, capacity, functionality,compatibility with associated systems and use of spaces served. </p><p>Provide assessment of new technologies, equipment, andsystems for electrical, lighting, and fire alarm building elements andassociated equipment in order to evaluate applicability and value to campusprojects. </p><p>Prepare and present reports, programs or drawings to F&amp;Smanagement or staff as assigned. </p><p>Utilize software and information resources available to theF&amp;S Division. This includes Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,PowerPoint, etc.), AutoCAD, AiM, the my.fs.illinois.edu Portal, SharePoint, andinternet offerings.<br><strong><br>CONSTRUCTION &amp; WARRANTY SUPPORT &nbsp;&nbsp;</strong><br> Provide review of electrical, lighting, and fire alarm construction submittalsand testing verification as requested. </p><p>Attend construction progress meetings as needed or byrequest. </p><p>Provide technical support and on-site inspections asrequested for the Commissioning &amp; Inspection Group. </p><p>Assist Lead Inspector and occupant with technical issuesduring the warranty or post construction phase.<br><strong><br> CONTINUING EDUCATION </strong><br> Provide and/or attend training for professional development, technical topics,and team building. </p><p>Provide assessment of new technologies, equipment andsystems to evaluate applicability to our projects and University FacilitiesStandards. </p><p>Maintain knowledge in current building codes, UniversityFacilities Standards, State and Federal regulations, and restoration standards,energy codes needed to adequately meet the needs of the Engineering ServicesDepartment.<br><strong><br>SUPPORT TO OTHER UNITS </strong><br> Provide technical support to F&amp;S Crafts and Trades for equipment selection,troubleshooting of building elements and system problems, development ofpreventive maintenance needs and answer technical questions. </p><p>Provide electrical, lighting, and fire alarm designexpertise in support of Capital Programs/Deferred Maintenance, EngineeringServices, Construction Services, Utilities and Engineering Services, BuildingMaintenance &amp; Grounds, and other F&amp;S Departments as well as campusunits. </p><p>Provide electrical, lighting, and fire alarm engineeringsupport to Design Services, including design (drawings and/or specifications)for selected projects.&nbsp; Assist and coordinate with other staff on designand review issues.<br><br> <strong>CAMPUS COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS </strong><br> Participate in the QBS process for selection of Professional ServiceConsultants as assigned. </p><p>Participate in various Deferred Maintenance committees forassessment and prioritization of buildings. </p><p>Participate in hiring selection committees.<br><br> <strong>OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED </strong><br> Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees,faculty, staff, administration, professional consultants, and contractors.</p><p>Provide support in the collaboration, development, and maintenance of theUniversity Facilities Standards. </p><p>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.</p><p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:</strong><br> Support the Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Principles of Facilities andServices. </p><p>Occasional field visits for projects in design orconstruction. </p><p>Use personal protective equipment, common sense, and safetytraining when on construction sites. </p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong><br>1. Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineeringor related field from an accredited institution. 2. Licensed ProfessionalEngineer in the State of Illinois. 3. In-depth (five (5) years minimum)progressively responsible administrative experience in engineering design ofelectrical systems, lighting, fire alarm, and related fire safety systems. 4.Demonstrated knowledge &amp; experience of building systems, includingmechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and/or building automationand/or control systems. </p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong><br>1. CEM, CEFP, LEED or additional certification inengineering, energy or facility management. 2. Seven (7) or more years of extensive design experience with medium and lowvoltage distribution systems, emergency &amp; stand-by power, lighting, andfire alarm systems with increasing responsibility of project development andmanagement. 3. Experience using lighting selection software and performing lightingcalculations. 4. Experience in Siemens and Schneider Electric I/A Building Automation ControlSystems.</p><p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</strong><br>Thorough knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulations, including the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, International Electrical Code, International Energy Conservation Code, National Fire Protection Associate Code, and other applicable codes and standards.</p><p>Knowledge of applicable higher education standards, including University Facilities Standards.</p><p>Thorough knowledge of electrical building systems, particularly in institutional facilities.</p><p>Thorough knowledge of systems modeling and optimum system selection.</p><p>Knowledge of laboratory electrical design.</p><p>Developed trouble shooting skills for performance of building systems.</p><p>General knowledge of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and building automation and control systems.</p><p>Thorough knowledge of CEM, CEFP, LEED, or additional certification programs in engineering, energy, or facility management. </p><p>Moderate to thorough working skills with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products.</p><p>Solid verbal and written communication skills.</p><p>Solid technical writing ability.</p><p><strong>Appointment Information</strong><br>This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position,appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possibleafter 05/04/2026. The budgeted salary range for this position is$100,000 to $115,000.
