Shipping & Receiving Clerk
FT/PT: Part-Time
General Position Description: Responsible for shipping, receiving, stocking supplies, recording materials that arrive at loading dock and maintaining related records of merchandise purchased by the College.
Salary Range: $16.25 per hour
Description of Job Function: 1. Receives incoming supplies by unloading merchandise and placing in assigned stock areas.
2. Packages merchandise for shipment.
3. Counts incoming merchandise and checks with purchase orders to verify and record the receipt of stock; notifies supervisor of irregular shipments.
4. Maintains inventory levels.
5. Moves materials and equipment from area to area or campus to campus.
6. Arranges stock in assigned area, maintains clean area.
7. Packages, returns and coordinates pickups.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Other Required Qualifications: This person would drive a college vehicle to pick up and deliver shipments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Ability to follow oral and written directions and interact with others.
2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
3. Knowledge of postal regulations, store keeping policies and procedures, and simple mathematics.
General Working Conditions: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
